Rohit Sharma has returned in his domestic colours for Mumbai on December 24 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, and thousands of fans flocked in to visit the ‘Mumbai cha Raja’.
The India maestro, who returns to the domestic stage after seven long years, is currently facing Sikkim for the first round of the Vijay Hazare trophy 2025-26, and the fans inside the stadium were upbeat to chant an unusual request for the India opener.
Crowd make hilarious demand from Rohit Sharma
More than 10,000 people gathered at the Jaipur Stadium to see the Indian hero play VHT, and besides the chants of ‘Mumbai cha Raja’, the crowd erupted with hilarious demand as they chanted “Rohit bhai ko bowling do,” implying that they want to see Rohit Sharma bowl.
This chant reminisces about the memories of the Indian crowd when they chanted on various occasions to let Virat Kohli bowl in the match. The chant went like, “Kohli ko bowling do.” The fun-loving crowd seems to have played with the words to demand the same from Rohit Sharma.
When did Rohit Sharma last bowl in cricket?
Interestingly, Rohit Sharma last bowled in international cricket back in 2024 in an ODI match against Sri Lanka. For the unaware, Rohit Sharma is a decent right-arm off-break bowler who has a massive tally of wickets despite being one of the modern-day greats in batting.
Rohit Sharma has taken 24 first-class wickets and 31 List A wickets, while also claiming 15 IPL wickets to add to his unusual tally. In overall T20 cricket, Rohit Sharma has picked up 29 wickets from 59 innings, with an astonishing best figure of 4 for 6.
As fans chant for their favourite Indian opener on the field, it is important to note that Sikkim won the toss and opted to bat first as names like Shardul Thakur, Tushar Deshpande, and Tanush Kotian from Mumbai’s side lead the attack to topple the Lee Yong Lepcha-led side in the 50-over contest.
