Uganda had qualified for the biggest-ever event in their cricketing history from the qualification tournament in November 2023 after knocking out Zimbabwe with a win over Rwanda.

Masaba also gifted Rashid with a cap to celebrate the occasion before going in for the toss which was won by Uganda who decided to bowl first.

Afghanistan posted a healthy 183/5, however, credit should be given to Uganda for restricting the side to under 200. In reply, Fazalhaq Farooqi ripped through the Uganda top-order batters as the side is on the verge of defeat.
