ICC Announces Whopping Prize Money Of ₹20.4 Crore For T20 World Cup 2024

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is underway and the incentives for doing well and progressing to the latter stages of the tournament have never been higher. The winners are about to receive a record $2.45m i.e., ₹20.4 crore.

On Monday, June 3, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced unprecedented amounts for a finish at each position in the World Cup that has begun in the USA and West Indies.

The runner-ups will be getting $1.28m (₹10.6 Cr) while the losing semi-finalists [3rd and 4th placed] teams will get $787,500 (₹6.5 Cr) each. The 4 teams from the second round [Super 8s] who will not go past the stage will take home  $382,500 (₹3.2 Cr) each.

The teams that will finish their tournament in the group stage while finishing third in the respective groups i.e., 9th-12th finishing teams will receive $247,500 (₹2.05 Cr) each.

The remaining i.e., 13th-20th finishing 8 teams, who will finish the group stage as 4th and 5th in their respective groups will go home with $225,000 (₹1.8 Cr) each.

Apart from the different amounts for different positions, the teams will also be getting $31,154 (₹26 Lakhs) for every match they win excluding the semi-final and final.

The tournament that is being commenced in the USA and West Indies kicked off on Sunday, June 2, evening in Dallas will be played for 28 days with 40 games in the group stage, 12 in the super eights followed by semi-finals and Final on June 29.
