After a tough start and getting a reality check early in the innings Vs Afghanistan, Uganda needed inspiration from somewhere, and they got it from their skipper, Brian Masaba.

The Afghan opening duo of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran forged a 154-run opening stand, and took the Uganda bowlers to the cleaners. Both the batters reached their respective half-centuries, and at one stage, it looked like both players will breach the 100-run mark.

Masaba turns the tide for Uganda

However, Masaba brought himself into the attack and got the prized wicket of Zadran to turn the tides for his side. The opening batter tried to slog him, but got beaten by the flight as the ball shattered the stumps. 

Despite the wicket, Afghanistan were still in a good position to cross the 200-run mark, but Masaba once again became the chief destroyer and plucked the wicket of Najibullah Zadran to push Afghanistan on the back-foot. The other Zadran, miscued the pull shot off Masaba's bowling and found the fielder in the deep.

One brought the downfall of another as Afghanistan lost two more wickets and allowed Uganda to crawl back in the contest.
