South African and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen has shared intriguing advice he received from former Proteas captain Faf du Plessis regarding success in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Klaasen Reveals Faf du Plessis' Advice For IPL Success

Speaking to ESPN Cricket Monthly, Heinrich Klaasen recalled du Plessis' words, emphasizing the importance of hitting sixes to meet the expectations of IPL team owners.

Klaasen said, "The funny thing is, "I recently asked Faf Du Plessis how he became consistent and successful in the IPL. He said the IPL owners only care about guys that hit sixes and can win you games (laughs)".

Klaasen’s impressive performance in the IPL, especially over the last two seasons, underscores the impact of this advice. He scored his maiden IPL century in 2023 and followed it up with another 400-run season in 2024. His ability to hit sixes has become a defining feature of his gameplay.

Klaasen’s consistent power-hitting has made him a key player for SRH. In the 2024 IPL season, he amassed 479 runs in 15 innings at an average of 39.91 and a strike rate of nearly 171, including four half-centuries and 38 sixes.
