Babar Azam is well and truly back amongst the run-getters as the Pakistan stalwart slammed his third fifty of the series and all three came in back-to-back innings as he fights hard against the Proteas bowlers after the follow-on was enforced.
Babar scored a brilliant fifty on a tough surface in the first innings and continued the momentum with yet another half-century in the second innings. Interestingly, both his half-centuries have come on the same day.
Babar ended Day 2 on 31 runs, and on Day 3, he played a clinical knock and reached a well-compiled fifty. However, at 58, the star batter was dismissed as he went back on a disappointing note.
With his dismissal, Pakistan batting crumbled as none of the other batters played with responsibility and the team was bundled out for a mere 194 as South Africa enforced a follow-on.
Babar-Shan Masood take on the Proteas attack
Babar Azam and Shan Masood had a big task on their hands as a defeat loomed large. However, the duo came up with a positive frame of mind and punished the loose balls as South Africa felt the heat for the first time in the contest.
Babar was at his usual best as he played gracefully and reached a 73-ball fifty to give a ray of hope to his side. With that milestone, he slammed his second fifty of the day, something which we don't see often.
Not only Babar, but captain Shan has also slammed his fifty as Pakistan are 141/0, still trailing by 279 runs.
