India’s young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues to amaze everyone with his explosive batting. Playing for India in the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025, he once again showed why he is considered one of the brightest upcoming talents.
In India’s opening match against the UAE on Friday, Suryavanshi delivered a stunning performance that left the opposition bowlers completely helpless.
Right from the start, Suryavanshi looked confident and in total control. He began steadily, but once he got his eye in, he shifted into attacking mode without hesitation. He was hitting the ball cleanly and fearlessly, just like he has done in recent matches.
Suryavanshi's early half-century came in just 30 balls, and from there, he kept increasing the pressure on the UAE bowlers.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi scores incredible century vs UAE
By the time he crossed his hundred, reaching it in only 56 balls, he was unstoppable. He went on to smash a massive 171 runs off just 95 deliveries, hitting nine fours and an incredible 14 sixes.
However, during the match, there was also a small moment of drama. When Suryavanshi was in the 90s, the UAE wicketkeeper, Saleh Amin, tried to distract him. He kept saying things like “90’s curse, 90’s curse,” hoping to make him nervous and break his concentration.
At first, Suryavanshi stayed calm, but after a point he responded sharply. Annoyed by the constant comments, he shot back with, “Tere saath selfie loon?” which means, “Should I take a selfie with you?” His comeback immediately shut down the chatter and showed he wasn’t intimidated.
Suryavanshi makes history with his stunning knock
After that, he continued dominating the innings, eventually reaching 150 runs in just 84 balls. He was finally run out for 171, missing out on becoming the first player in Under-19 Asia Cup history to score a double century. Notably, only one player in Youth ODI history has ever scored a double hundred, South Africa’s Jorich van Schalkwyk.
Even though Suryavanshi missed that milestone, his knock of 171 is now the second-highest score by an Indian in a Youth ODI, just behind Ambati Rayudu’s 177* in 2002.
