On Thursday, a rampant West Indies side will take on England in the second Super Eight fixture of the ongoing T20 World Cup. The match is scheduled at the picturesque Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia.

WI vs ENG: Team Previews

West Indies

Led by Rovman Powell, West Indies have been absolutely ruthless, securing four consecutive wins in the group-stage. After defeating PNG, Uganda and New Zealand convincingly, the co-hosts registered a whopping 104-run victory over Afghanistan in their final group-stage clash.

Despite the openers' poor form, the Windies have been phenomenal with the bat, courtesy of the consistency of their middle-order batters.

While Sherfane Rutherford played a knock for the ages against the Kiwis, Nicholas Pooran set the stage on fire with his blazing knock against the Afghans.

However, their all-round bowling attack has been the most significant factor behind West Indies' dominance in the World Cup.

Alzarri Joseph has been razor-sharp with his pace and body-line bowling, while Gudakesh Motie and Akeal Hosein have hunted in a pair, leaving their opponents stunned.

So, overall, the Men in Maroon seem to be in their best possible shape as they gear up for the English challenge.

England

ENG fought hard for a Super Eights place [AP]ENG fought hard for a Super Eights place [AP]

As they say, fortune favours the brave, and England showed enough bravery to turn the tide in their favour and enter the Super Eights against all odds.

They had a disastrous start to the World Cup, earning a single point from their first two group-stage fixtures.

However, they made a remarkable comeback, defeating Oman and Namibia comprehensively and eventually pipping their European rivals Scotland in the Super Eight race.

The English batting revolves around the destructive opening duo of Jos Buttler and Phil Salt, who are yet to make their mark in the tournament.

However, if the top-order fails to perform, Jonny Bairstow and Harry Brook have exhibted the nerves to step up and bail their team out of trouble.

While Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone bring all-round impact, Mark Wood's extra pace and Adil Rashid's wily variations make England a tough team to beat in the Caribbean conditions.

Barring Wood and Rashid, the eyes will also be on Jofra Archer, who has been in fine touch after making a long-awaited comeback to international cricket.

WI vs ENG: Daren Sammy Stadium Pitch Report

The surface at Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia will offer a hint of seam movement early on to the fast bowlers. There will also be some extra bounce for the hit-the-deck pacers, while the spinners won't likely find substantial assistance off the track.

The pitch in St Lucia generally offers even pace, which the batters can capitalise to score runs. Considering the true nature of the surface, expect the toss-winner to bowl first.
