Trouble For BAN Before T20 WC Super Eights As ICC Punishes Tanzim Hasan For 'This' Reason

In a significant development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined ace Bangladesh speedster Tanzim Hasan Sakib for a code of conduct violation.

Notably, Tanzim, who bowled magnificently in the Tigers' final group-stage clash against Nepal, was involved in a heated exchange with the Nepalese skipper Rohit Paudel.

In the midst of his clinical spell, Tanzim lost his cool and pushed Paudel inappropriately during the third over of Nepal's innings.

The apex body found Tanzim guilty of breaching article 2.12 of the ICC code of conduct for players and player support personnel, which concerns "inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match")

Match referee Richie Richardson fined Tanzim 15 per cent of his fees. However, a formal hearing wasn't conducted, and the pacer admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction.

In the absence of Shoriful Islam, Tanzim has emerged as Bangladesh's go-to bowler alongside Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman. In four T20 World Cup 2024 appearances, the right-arm pacer has scalped nine wickets at a stunning economy of 4.80.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh ensured their Super Eights qualification with an emphatic win over Nepal. Led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, the Tigers will take on the mighty Aussies in their first Super Eight fixture in Antigua on June 21.
