Suryakumar Yadav started off the Mumbai T20 League 2025 season with a fiery 27-ball half-century against Eagle Thane Strikers. Batting at number four for the Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, the national T20I skipper clattered eight fours and a huge six to catapult his team to a formidable 179-7 from 20 overs in match three of the competition on Wednesday, June 4.

Suryakumar, who racked up over 700 runs in the recently-concluded IPL 2025 season for the Mumbai Indians, seems to be seamlessly carrying forward his scintillating form into the Mumbai T20 League, reaffirming his stature as one of the most explosive batters in the shortest format.

Suryakumar Yadav soars again with 27-ball 50!

Suryakumar Yadav smeared an unbeaten 50 from just 27 balls after arriving to the crease in the 12th over of the innings at 94-2. His knock helped the Triumph Knights Mumbai North East accumulate 85 runs in the final eight overs to get to a competitive 179-7.

Apart from captain Suryakumar, Triumph Knights Mumbai’s opening batter Jigar Surendra Rana also made a fluent 53 from 42 balls with six fours and two huge sixes at the iconic Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai.

Suryakumar Yadav, ranked number five on the ICC men’s batting T20I charts, also finished the IPL 2025 season with 717 runs from 16 innings at a prolific average of 65.18. The cricketer held a batting strike rate of 167.91, marking the second highest strike rate among top 10 run-getters of the season behind Shreyas Iyer.

He smashed five half-centuries in the process, and attained the all-time Mumbai Indians record of hauling most runs in a single edition of the IPL, going past Sachin Tendulkar’s Orange Cap winning act from IPL 2010.
