In a significant development, Suryakumar Yadav has scripted history as the right-hand batter has become the first player in Mumbai Indians' history to score 600+ runs in multiple seasons. Notably, in the ongoing IPL 2025 match between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, SKY is batting on 28 (17) and completed 600+ runs this season.
It is worth noting that Sachin Tendulkar has hit 600+ runs in 2010 season, but he achieved that feat just once. Further, SKY has also gone past Sachin to score most runs for Mumbai Indians in a single season.
SKY first breached the 600-runs mark in a season during 2023 and the 2025 season is the 2nd time that he has crossed 600+ runs.
Suryakumar Yadav Scores 25+ Runs In Entire 2025 Season
It was the only record scripted by Suryakumar Yadav against Punjab Kings as the MI star batter also left behind Temba Bavuma to now have most 25+ runs in a single season. Prior to the Punjab game, both SKY and Bavuma had 13 such scores of 25-plus in consecutive matches, but now, SKY has gone to 14 innings in a row. Previously, Bavuma held the record during 2019-2020 season.
Talking about the ongoing match, MI are in trouble as the Indians have lost four wickets for 113 runs on the board after 13 overs with Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya at the crease. It is worth noting that the winner of the match will go at the top of the table and ensure a place in the qualifier one.
