Saeed Ajmal’s brilliant 6-for, followed by an unbeaten opening stand from Sharjeel Khan and Sohaib Maqsood, powered Pakistan to a dominant 10-wicket victory over Australia in their final World Championship of Legends (WCL 2025)  league match at Leicester on July 29. Pakistan now advanced to the knockouts brimming with confidence.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the 14th match of the WCL 2025, as it panned out at Grace Road in Leicester on Tuesday, July 29.

Saeed Ajmal Wreaks Havoc, Aussies Skittled to 74

After being asked to bat first, Australia Champions had a shaky start, losing two quick wickets including the dangerous Chris Lynn inside three overs. Ben Dunk launched a brief counter-attack with a fiery 14-ball 26. However, Saeed Ajmal turned the tide, grabbing three wickets in an over to halt the momentum.

At 60 for 5 after the powerplay, Callum Ferguson, who was the hero against India from a similar position, tried to rebuild but fell to Imad Wasim. Ben Cutting and Coulter-Nile also got out cheaply. Ajmal continued to charge, wrapping up the innings, taking 6 for 16 in his four overs. Imad Wasim also chipped in with two key wickets as Australia collapsed for 74.

Unbeaten Opening Stand Powers Pakistan to Dominant Win

Chasing just 75, Pakistan openers Sharjeel Khan and Sohaib Maqsood began cautiously, seeing off the early overs from Brett Lee and Peter Siddle. The momentum shifted when Coulter-Nile came into the attack, with Sharjeel smashing a couple of leg-side boundaries to set the tone. Dan Christian faced similar treatment, and Pakistan raced to 45 without loss by the end of the powerplay, showing no signs of slowing down.

As Pakistan was cruising towards victory, John Hastings was introduced, and what followed was a bizarre and hilarious over. He bowled 12 wides and a no-ball, completely losing control with Pakistan extracting 19 runs from it, which felt endless. Fittingly, they crossed the target in just 7.5 overs without losing a single wicket and finished their league stage on a high before the knockouts.
