In an unfortunate turn of events, experienced Indian keeper-batter Rishabh Pant was carried off the field after sustaining an injury in the ongoing fourth Test against England at Old Trafford in Manchester. The southpaw was eventually replaced by Ravindra Jadeja, who joined the well-set B Sai Sudharsan in the middle.

Why Rishabh Pant Left The Field Midway?

The incident occurred during the 68th over of India's first innings when Pant was batting alongside Sai Sudharsan. As English pacer Chris Woakes bowled a full-length delivery, Pant tried to play an unconventional reverse sweep in a bid to dominate him. However, he only managed an inside edge, with the ball crashing into the side of his boot.

Pant complained of severe pain and was attended by Team India physio. He was in serious discomfort, as he struggled to walk after the nasty blow. So, he had to be stretchered off the field, with Jadeja replacing him in the middle.

The latest images reveal a swelling and a bleeding cut in Pant's right foot as he has been rushed to the hospital.

Rishabh Pant's Recent Struggles With Injury

It's worth mentioning that Rishabh Pant has sustained multiple injury setbacks on the ongoing England tour. The veteran cricketer damaged his finger while trying to save crucial runs for his side in the third Test. He was replaced by Dhruv Jurel, who donned the wicketkeeping gloves for majority of the Lord's encounter.

Thus, this is the second time Pant has left the ground midway due to an injury. The BCCI has yet to release an official word on the matter; so, it remains to be seen if he will return to bat for India in their first innings.
