Rishabh Pant recently underwent a lean phase in Sri Lanka where Team India lost the three-match ODI series to the hosts. Back in June this year, the cricketer made his return to India’s international setup for the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA. Fresh off a prolific IPL 2024 season with the bat, Pant cracked notable match-winning knocks against Pakistan and Bangladesh in a tournament-winning campaign for the ‘Men in Blue’.

On Monday, September 2, the 26-year-old was further spotted enhancing his skill set during an intense training session. As of now, the dashing left-handed batter is widely tipped to don the wicketkeeping gloves for Team India as they brace themselves for a hectic red-ball season. Notably, he will feature in the Duleep Trophy 2024 as well.

Rishabh Pant prepares for Indian Test comeback

The Indian cricket team is scheduled to face Bangladesh in a two-match home Test series from September 19 onwards in Chennai. Rishabh Pant, who played the last of his 33 Tests back in December 2022 at Mirpur against the same opponents, will likely be making his return to the format through the forthcoming series.

As Indian players brace themselves for the crucial WTC fixtures, Rishabh Pant was spotted sweating it out on September 2 during an intense nets training session.

Rishabh Pant sustained a horrific car accident shortly after his previous Test appearance back in December 2022. The resultant injuries kept him out of competitive cricket for nearly a year and a half until he made his return for the IPL 2024 season in India. Pant also travelled to West Indies and USA as part of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad, and sustained his international return with a white-ball tour of Sri Lanka.

The Test series against Bangladesh also marks Team India’s return to the format after more than six months. The series will be followed by a three-match rubber against New Zealand at home in October and November. With a spot in the WTC 2023-25 final on the line, Team India will also travel to Australia later this year for a blockbuster five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.
