In the ongoing fifth and final day of the 2nd Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh, the Tigers have lost the important wicket of their skipper Najmul Shanto.

When the play commenced on day 5, Bangladesh lost two quick wickets after a fifty-run opening stand, but Najmul Shanto and Mominul Haque stitched a crucial 57-run stand for the fourth wicket while chasing a target of 185 runs. 

Salman Ali Agha provided a crucial breakthrough for Pakistan as he got rid of Shanto in the 38th over. On the 3rd ball of that over, Shanto tried to flick the ball down the leg-side but found Abdullah Shafique standing at short leg. 

There was a short delay as the umpires were checking for something, but the replay showed it to be clearly off the bat, and even Shafique took a clean catch at short leg. The Bangladeshi skipper returned to the pavilion with a score of 38 (82). 

Shanto Plays His Best Innings In This Series

It is worth noting that it was Shanto's best score in this two-match series, as he has previously registered scores of 16 and 4 in this series. The skipper have had a dismal series with the bat, as he made to the news during the first innings of the 2nd Test after Khurram Shahzad bamboozled his stumps with a stunning delivery. 

Pakistan Vs Bangladesh Match Summary So Far

Bangladesh are nearing a historic series win as at the time of writing this article, they are just 32 runs away with seven wickets in hand. Pakistan, batting first in the first innings, put 274 runs on the board.  In reply, the Tigers posted 262 runs, resulting in Pakistan tumbling for 172 runs in the second innings.
