England pounced on their opportunities to edge out the visiting Indian team on Day 5 of the third Test. Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer picked up two wickets each on the day to complete three for the innings as the hosts took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of Day 5 of the third Test match, as it panned out at the iconic Lord’s in London on Monday, July 14.

Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes Scythe Through India Before Lunch

Tottering at 58-4 in 17.4 overs at the start of Day 5, Team India lost wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant for just nine to a searing delivery from Jofra Archer. Overnight batter and in-form opener KL Rahul also got trapped in front by Ben Stokes after reaching 39. Washington Sundar failed to lead India’s recovery as the star all-rounder got dismissed for a four-ball duck courtesy of a sharp caught-and-bowled by Archer as India slipped to 82-7 within the opening hour of the day.

Ravindra Jadeja subsequently shared a gritty 30-run partnership with fellow all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy to take India past the 100-run mark. However, just at the stroke of Lunch, Chris Woakes broke through for England with the huge wicket of Reddy as India’s troubles worsened at 112-8 in 39.3 overs.

England Too Good For Ravindra Jadeja’s Grit

Ravindra Jadeja spent 22 overs at the crease with number 10 Jasprit Bumrah, who washed up 54 deliveries to score just five. The two cricketers livened up the Indian contingent at Lord’s as the visitors ticked away crucial runs to inch closer to the 150-run mark. With Bumrah falling to Ben Stokes at 147-9, Jadeja shared another 13 overs with number 11 Mohammed Siraj to help India survive till Tea break.

However, an injured Shoaib Bashir cleaned up Siraj at the start of the final session as India fell 22 runs short of their target.
