Joe Root, the prolific English batter, has achieved another remarkable milestone in his illustrious Test career. By becoming the 6th highest run-getter in Test cricket history, Root steps closer to the ultimate run-scoring record held by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.

Joe Root is hitting a new era of prime as his consistency in red ball cricket has touched a new high. In the past couple of home series against West Indies and Sri Lanka, the English stalwart has scored an unimaginable number of runs.

He recently became the highest run-getter and also the player to hit the most hundreds in England's Test history.

Root Advances In All-Time Leading Run Getter In Tests Cricket List

Now, in the third series against Sri Lanka, Joe Root has scored another milestone. With 25 runs in two innings, Root now has 12,402 Test runs to his name and surpassed the iconic Sri Lankan batter Kumar Sangakkara's record of 12,400 runs, moving to sixth place on the all-time list.

Joe Root is now 70 runs away from beating his former teammate Alastair Cook to jump to 5th place.

With this accomplishment, Root is now in pursuit of other cricketing legends, such as Jacques Kallis, Rahul Dravid, Ricky Ponting, and Sachin Tendulkar, who still tops the chart with an astonishing 15,921 runs.

What makes Root's achievement even more impressive is that he still has several years ahead of him, giving him a realistic chance of approaching, or even surpassing, Tendulkar's record.

Joe Root More Focused On Team Success Than Personal Milestone

When asked about his intentions to surpass Sachin Tendulkar's ultimate record of being the highest scorer in Test history, Joe Root said that he would try his best to score as many runs as possible.

However, the record is not in his sight. England's victories and overall team success are the ultimate goals. The feeling of contributing to a team's success is greater than the satisfaction of personal milestones.
