India Women (IND-W) and Sri Lanka Women (SL-W) teams will be crossing paths in the second T20I of their five-match series on Tuesday, December 22. The match will be hosted by the VDCA Stadium in Vizag and the action will commence from 7:00 PM IST onwards.

India Women

India Women won the first T20I in Vizag by eight wickets and 32 balls to spare to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. Jemimah Rodrigues anchored the Indian run-chase with her sublime 69*-run knock after Deepti Sharma delivered exceptional figures of 1-20 in her four overs. Apart from taking a healthy lead, the Indian women’s team also won its previous T20I series back in July this year, doing so by beating England away from home with a 3-2 margin.

Sri Lanka Women

In their previous T20I assignment before India tour, the Sri Lanka Women’s team levelled their three-match series in New Zealand 1-1 earlier this year. In desperate need of some winning momentum in their road towards next year’s Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, the Chamari Athapaththu-led Sri Lankan team will be aiming to punch above its weight and level the ongoing series against India. In the first T20I of the series, the Sri Lankan team hardly put up a fight as they squandered spin-friendly Vizag conditions to concede early advantage to the hosts.

IND-W vs SL-W head-to-head overview

India Women and Sri Lanka Women teams have faced each other 27 times in T20I cricket. The Indian women’s team hold a far superior head-to-head record with 21 wins, in comparison to just five wins from Sri Lanka. Their 2018 match in Colombo turned out to be a no-result after just eight overs of play.

VDCA Stadium in Vizag pitch report

The conditions at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam (or Vizag) largely favours spinners, with something on offer for the fast bowlers as well, especially with the new ball. Batting has proven to be a daunting task in the first innings at the venue thus far, considering the average first innings total here across seven Women’s T20Is hosted has amounted to just 116. Only one team has managed to score over 150 runs, with Australia achieving the feat more than a decade ago in 2012.

The captain winning the toss will likely opt to field first, considering the chasing sides have won five of the seven women’s T20I games hosted by the VDCA Stadium.
