Another day, another milestone for Smriti Mandhana as the Indian opener reached a remarkable landmark of 4,000 runs in international T20 cricket. She achieved this feat in the first match of the five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.
The elegant left-hander has long been a symbol of class and consistency in women’s cricket, combining muscle with recent displays of powerful hitting. Coming into this match against the Lankans, Mandhana had amassed 3,982 runs in 153 T20I innings, needing just 18 runs to reach the coveted landmark.
Mandhana reached the milestone in the sixth over of India’s modest 122-run chase in Visakhapatnam. Tucking a delivery towards mid-wicket for a single, she became the first Indian woman to score 4,000 T20I runs. The achievement was celebrated by fans and teammates alike, highlighting her sustained excellence over the years.
