Leading India for the first time as full-time T20I skipper, captain Suryakumar Yadav stood tall at number three by smacking a whirlwind 58 from just 26 balls. The attacking right-hander maneuvered the Sri Lankan field with elegant cuts and audacious pull to launch eight boundaries and two sixes.

Suryakumar’s turbulent knock was eventually curtailed by a searing yorker from Matheesha Pathirana at 150-3.

Rishabh Pant took on the role of an aggressor following the dismissal of captain Suryakumar Yadav. The wicketkeeper-batter packed 49 runs from 33 balls to take India past the 200-run mark in the penultimate over. Axar Patel also launched a six in his fiery 10*-run cameo as India charted 213-7 by the completion of their innings.

Arshdeep Singh picked up two wickets in the innings alongside Axar Patel (2-38). Mohammed Siraj and spinner Ravi Bishnoi also chipped in with a wicket each. Riyan Parag, meanwhile, mopped up the Sri Lankan tail with figures of 3-5 from just 1.2 overs as India secured a huge 43-run series-leading win.
