Ravi Bishnoi avoided a serious injury on Saturday when India faced Sri Lanka in the first T20I of the three-match series at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele.

The incident took place during the 16th over of Sri Lanka's innings when Suryakumar Yadav re-introduced Bishnoi into the attack. Batting on 20* off 15 balls, Kamindu Mendis, while trying to play a googly, gets a leading edge.

Bishnoi went for a fly, and tried to catch the ball with one hand. However, the ball could only hit his wrist before cutting near his left eye. Had it hit a bit upper part of his face, it could have been a serious hand injury.

However, Bishnoi came back in style, and had a bandage on his face later on following physio's checkup. He took a wicket as well after that, that too a big one, Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka.

At the time of writing this, Sri Lanka are in tatters, slipping to 164/7 after 17.5 overs. India, batting first, posted 213/7 on the board.
