Suryakumar Yadav's first game as India's full-time T20I skipper has started on a positive note, as the right-hand batter smashed a fifty in the ongoing first T20I against Sri Lanka at the Pallekelle Stadium.

SKY came to bat when India were 74/1 after six overs. He carried on the momentum set by openers Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal. as he smashed his 2nd fastest fifty in T20Is. 

Surya took only 22 balls to reach his half-century. SKY's knock featured seven fours and two sixes.  After scoring his fifty, he received a standing ovation from Gautam Gambhir from the dugout.

Also, it was Surya's fourth fifty-plus score against Sri Lanka. He equalled Virat Kohli's feat for most 50+ scores against Sri Lanka in T20Is.

However, SKY returned to the pavilion soon after scoring his fifty as he fell prey to Matheesha Pathirana. At the time of writing this article, India are 159/3 after 15 overs.  SKY scored 58 (26).
