Young allrounder Riyan Parag exhibited his bowling skills in India's ongoing first T20I against Sri Lanka at Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy. Despite failing with the bat, Parag chipped in with a vital breakthrough with the ball as he got rid of Kamindu Mendis to leave Sri Lanka in disarray.

The incident occurred during the 17th over of Sri Lanka's innings when they needed a demanding target of 56 runs off 24 deliveries.

As Kamindu Mendis had already started to get going, India's newly appointed T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav handed the ball to Riyan Parag, hoping for a miracle.

His tactical brilliance paid off, as the part-time spinner castled Kamindu Mendis with a ripper. After conceding only three runs off his first three balls, Parag bowled a good length ball that turned slightly away from the batter after pitching.

As Mendis used his back foot to play a cut shot, he was beaten comprehensively, with the ball shattering the timber.

After Mendis, Wanindu Hasaranga was the seventh man to bite the dust, with Arshdeep dismissing him for two runs. As of writing, Sri Lanka were on the verge of a defeat, placed at 170/7 in 18.4 overs.
