Legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli brought his A-game against arch-rivals Pakistan once again, smashing a scintillating century in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 fixture in Colombo. Unarguably, the greatest ODI batter of this generation, Kohli took on the Pakistani bowlers to all parts of the ground and completed his 47th ton in the ODI format in this process.
The high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan was interrupted due to inclement weather conditions on Sunday when India were stranded on 147 for two in 24.1 overs.
However, as the weather Gods stayed kind, the game resumed on Monday, with India’s unbeaten batters, Kohli and KL Rahul entering the middle.
While Rahul went berserk from the word go, Kohli took some time to get his eyes in. However, he switched gears immediately after completing his fifty, frustrating Pakistan with a flurry of boundaries. The Indian stalwart took a particular liking towards Iftikhar Ahmed and Naseem Shah, completing a quick-fire hundred off just 84 deliveries.
Notably, this is Kohli’s fourth ODI hundred at the iconic R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Overall, it’s his 47th ODI century and he needs only three more to record the highest tons in One-day internationals.
Meanwhile, riding on magnificent hundreds from Kohli and KL Rahul, India have already posted a mammoth total of 330 for two in 48 overs as of writing.
