Cameron Green, who fetched ₹25.20 crore at the IPL 2026 mini-auction, has failed for the second time in the ongoing Ashes Test at Adelaide. He was dismissed for just 7 runs to Josh Tongue in the second innings.

Green had a big payday at the IPL auction held on December 16. KKR and CSK engaged in a tough bidding war before Kolkata outbid Chennai to secure the all-rounder for a whopping price.

Cameron Green falls on 0 and 7 in the third Ashes Test

However, just days after becoming the costliest overseas player in the history of the IPL, Cameron Green let Australia down in the third Ashes Test at Adelaide.

In the first inning, he was dismissed on a duck by Jofra Archer. Moreover, in the second innings, Cameron Green walked out to bat with a solid foundation of 139/3.

Still, he couldn’t capitalise on the momentum. Josh Tongue pitched a fuller delivery outside off, and Cameron Green went forward to drive, but the outside edge flew low.

Harry Brook dived sharply to his left and took a superb catch. Green has to walk back on just 7 off 7 balls.

His sudden dip in form is certainly concerning for KKR, who invested big bucks in him. Since Green confirmed to play as an all-rounder, Kolkata planned to fill multiple gaps with a single player alone.

But if his form doesn’t improve, KKR are in for some serious trouble.

Australia in the driver’s seat after Head’s hundred

That being said, despite Cameron Green’s cheap dismissal, Australia are in a commanding position. Travis Head is thriving as an opener, having scored his second hundred of the Ashes 2025 series.

Australia’s lead is over 300 runs, and the hosts are inching closer towards yet another series victory as they already lead by 2-0 in this 5-game competition.
