The India-Bangladesh political ties have ceased to exist, with protests boiling over in the neighbouring country. Amid these tensions, Bangladesh U19 players were seen celebrating the Indian movie ‘Dhurandhar.’

‘Dhurandhar’ is a spy-thriller Bollywood film directed by Aditya Dhar with Ranveer Singh as the main lead. However, the movie is banned in several Muslim-populated countries for allegedly having ‘anti-Pakistan’ elements.

Not only that, but the political ties between India and Bangladesh are at their worst, as anti-India protests have broken out in the neighbouring country.

Amid these serious standoffs, Bangladesh U19 players were enjoying themselves. After crushing Sri Lanka by 39 runs in the U19 Asia Cup, the Tigers celebrated their victory by recreating the viral step from the ‘Dhurandhar’ movie.

The viral scene shows Akshaye Khanna’s character, Rehman Dakait, grooving to the catchy track ‘FA9LA’. The same hook step was recreated by six of the Bangladesh U19 players.

They seem happy in the video while both countries are at each other’s throats on the streets.

Naturally, the video has now gone viral on social media, with fans questioning the timing of the stunt.

Bangladesh to face Pakistan in the semi-final

That being said, on the field, Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 39 runs to qualify for the semi-final of the U19 Asia Cup 2025.

Batting first, Bangladesh posted a competitive 225 after being bowled out in 46.3 overs. Zawad Abrar gave them a brisk start with a fluent 49 off 36 balls, while Rifat Beg (36) and skipper Azizul Hakim Tamim (29) added useful runs in the middle.

For Sri Lanka, Kavija Gamage was the standout bowler with figures of 4 for 38.

In reply, Sri Lanka never really found momentum. Chamika Heenatigala top-scored with 41, while Aadham Hilmy fought hard with 39, but regular wickets stalled the chase.

Bangladesh bowled Sri Lanka out for 186 in 49.1 overs to seal a semi-final spot where they’ll compete against Pakistan U19.
