Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini auction, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was the red-hot commodity, and everyone expected him to fetch a hefty amount in the auction, and the predictions came true as teams went on a war for him, as the Aussie star was sold to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a whopping 25.20 crore.

There was a three-way tie to acquire Green’s services, and the bidding war lasted more than 10 minutes. After a grueling session, KKR secured the Australian player for the IPL 2026 season.

Green came in set 1 of the mini auction, and immediately, the Mumbai Indians raised the paddle. Interestingly, MI had a purse of just 2.7 crore, but they just wanted to have some fun. However, once the serious business picked up, the two-horse race started between the Rajasthan Royals and the Kolkata Knight Riders.

RR had a purse of 16.05 crore, while KKR had the highest at 64.30. Despite the purse gap, RR were determined to land Green on their side as the batter would have been a perfect fit at number 5. However, once the bid reached 13.60 crore, RR backed out.

This is when the Chennai Super Kings, with a purse of 43.40 crore, entered the race and from there on, it was an intense battle between the two teams with the highest auction purse. KKR had the upper hand, but CSK kept on going, but at the price of 25.20 crore, CSK called it quit and KKR got its hands on Green.

With Green on their side, the Australian all-rounder is likely to play at number 4, a position that gave them nightmares last season as the team failed to qualify for the playoffs.
