Gus Atkinson just can't do anything wrong at the moment. The man who loves playing at Lord's, delivered another match-winning performance as England defeated Sri Lanka by 190 runs to clinch the game and the 2-match Test series.

Needing an improbable 483 to level the series, Sri Lankan batters came out with a positive mindset in the second innings, with veteran Dimuth Karunaratne leading the charge. The elegant southpaw scored a gritty 55 and gave a glimmer of hope to his side.

However, all hopes were dashed away when Atkinson ran riot and picked up his second-ever five-wicket haul at Lord's to sink the Lankan Lions. He started with the wicket of Nishan Madushanka, and then Olly Stone joined the party as his twin strike pushed Sri Lanka on the back-foot.

Once Bashir and Woakes took care of the middle-order, Atkinson was brought back in the attack to take care of the lower-order batters. The man in-form for England hardly broke a sweat as he cleaned up the Sri Lankan lower-order with utmost ease and in the process, bagged a 5-wicket haul.

He finished with figures of 5 for 62 as England took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Root's twin centuries, the hallmark of Lord's Test

Root scored a century, not once, but twice in the Test match. He bailed England out of a precarious situation in the first innings, and alongside Atkinson, took England to a commanding position.

He came back to haunt Sri Lanka once again in the second innings, this time with yet another gutsy century. The former Test skipper slammed his 34th Test ton and went past Alastair Cook to become the Englishman with the most centuries in Test cricket.

Atkinson's love-affair continues with Lord's

He started his Test career with a 7-wicket haul Vs West Indies at Lord's and continued the love-affair with a century in the first innings of this Test, and another fifer in the second innings.

Atkinson became the quickest bowler in terms of innings to etch his name on the Lord's honours board, surpassing the great Ian Botham.
