Frustration For India As Big Opportunity Of Robinson Missed Due To Lack Of Review

In a moment of frustration for the Indian cricket team, English tailender Ollie Robinson survived a plumb LBW dismissal during a critical phase of the fourth Test due to a lack of DRS referrals.

India was all over England on Day 1 of the Ranchi Test as debutant Akashdeep wreaked havoc with the ball. He removed the top order to put India on top at the end of the first session.

Later, the spinners capitalized on the momentum until Joe Root's resilience played spoilsport. Root with wicket-keeper Ben Foakes put up a 100-run partnership to guide England to a decent first-innings total. While Mohammad Siraj provided the breakthrough, Root managed to make a game with the tail.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja produced an opportunity to get rid of Ollie Robinson in the final hour of Day 1's play. Jadeja hit the crack of the surface, which led to sharp movement towards the leg stump.

Meanwhile, Robinson was beaten from all corners as he drove forward to defend. India erupted in a loud appeal, but umpire Kumar Dharmasena deemed it bat first. Jadeja pleaded his case, saying the ball had hit the pad first. But his cries fell on deaf ears of Dharmasena, who refused to budge and called it in the favor of the batter.

However, India was short on DRS referrals after Rohit Sharma burned three reviews during the first two sessions of the game.

To further rub salt in India's wounds, replays on the big screen showed three reds on ball tracking. The ball would have crashed the off-stump, and Robinson should have been in the dressing room. However, to India's misfortune, the tailender survived as Kumar Dharmasena messed up the call.

That being said, the frustration was visible on Indian's fielder's faces as skipper Rohit Sharma shook his head in angst.

Regardless, Rohit needs to gather his group together to break centurion Joe Root's resistance before it's too late.
