A superb fightback from Joe Root and Ben Foakes came to an end after India went wicket-less in a session for the first time in the series. 

Mohammed Siraj removed Ben Foakes to break the dangerous-looking 113-run partnership for the sixth wicket on Day 1 of the fourth Test at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.

Mohammed Siraj took his first wicket of the day and provided India with a much-needed breakthrough. The England duo led a recovery from 112 for 5 before Foakes chipped to short midwicket for 47. 

Ben Foakes played a shot in search of a boundary, but Ravindra Jadeja intercepted and took a brilliant catch at the mid-on.

It was a cut-copy-paste kind of dismissal for the batter, as once again was playing on the leg side and could not restrict the amount of energy he wanted to put into the ball with the bottom hand hence it looped in the air and carried to the mid-on fielder. 

Mohammad Siraj brought India back into the game with a massive breakthrough of Ben Foakes. As of writing, England have reached 251/7.
