Suryakumar Yadav had a point to prove on Friday in India’s first ODI of the three-match series against Australia in Mohali. The stylish batter, placed at the top of the ICC Rankings for batsmen in T20Is, has not done enough in the 50-over format yet.

However, when the Men in Blue needed him the most, Suryakumar silenced his critics with a composed knock.

In a brilliant display of batting, SKY avoided playing too many "cute" shots while keeping in mind the match's circumstances. However, the one time he attempted something fancy, he was successful, and the victim was none other than Pat Cummins, the captain of the opposition.

When Cummins bowled a short ball, SKY curved his back to avoid the ball's path before taking his bat up just in time. The ramp shot was executed perfectly, scoring four runs as the ball contacted the boundary ropes.

Cummins had no clue what just happened, whereas SKY was delighted after making the contacts right.

At the time of writing, SKY is batting on 48 off 45 balls, while KL Rahul is on 45 off 56 balls. India, chasing 277, are on 263/4 after 46 overs.
