Sri Lanka looks all set to host the upcoming ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup in 2024. This will be the third time that the country will be hosting this tournament since 2006.

The ICC has laid down some tweaks in the tournament that will comprise a total of 16 teams. Unlike the previous edition, the tournament will be segmented into 4 groups which will consist of 4 teams each. However, the top three teams from each group will now progress to the Super Six stage. The group stage matches are scheduled to take place from January 13 to January 21.

Besides, the bottom-most ranked team in each group will play against another bottom-most placed team before exiting their tournament.

Meanwhile, the top two teams from the Super Six stage will book their spot in the semi-finals which is scheduled to take place on January 30 and February 1. The final will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on February 4.

The U-19 Indian Cricket Team are currently the defending champions who won the 2022 edition in the West Indies. Although they narrowly missed out against Bangladesh U-19 in the 2020 edition, they overpowered them quite comfortably in the preceding edition.

All eyes will be on the young U-19 Indian side who are slated to take on Bangladesh in their very first encounter on January 14.
