Matt Renshaw and Max Bryant were the heroes for Brisbane Heat in their chase of 174 against Sydney Thunder, rescuing the team from early trouble. While both the teams faced major hiccups in the BBL match, at the end, Sydney Thunder's efforts were obliterated by the Heat as they booked a dominant 5-wicket win.

Here’s the timeline of how Heat vs Thunder panned out at the Gabba:

Heat vs Thunder Highlights: David Warner Thrashes Fifty, Anchors Thunder Innings Amidst Collapse

David Warner is on an unstoppable streak of playing incredibly extraordinary innings in the BBL. After his stunning 86 and 49, the IPL 2025 reject racked up a fifty to his name off just 36 balls when the Thunder were struggling with the bat. Warner stabilized the inning from one side till the 15th over before he was dismissed by Spencer Johnson.

Warner weathered the middle-order collapse of Thunder and bagged 7 boundaries to his name while forging a strong inning himself. His efforts helped the team push past the 150-run mark and put up a total of 173-8 at the end of 20 overs.

Heat vs Thunder Highlights: Spencer Johnson's 3-fer Pokes Holes In Thunder's Batting Lineup

Spencer Johnson, the 29-year-old left-arm fast bowler was instrumental in the early dismal status of the Thunder. Johnson's fiery spell began with the removal of Matthew Gilkes in the seventh over. He then dismantled David Warner and Tom Andrews to bag his 3-fer.

However, Johnson was not alone in crafting Thunder's disappointment as Michael Neser and Matthew Kuhnemann also contributed with 2 wickets each to tumble the middle order.

Heat vs Thunder Highlights: Thunder Gives Heat Early Scare With Top-Order Collapse

Brisbane Heat were put on the back foot early in their chase of 174 against Sydney Thunder, as they faced a series of early setbacks. The opening partnership was quickly broken when Jack Wood was dismissed for just 2 runs, by Lockie Ferguson. This was followed by the loss of Nathan McSweeney, who had been struggling, and was dismissed for a mere 7 runs by Daniel Christian.

The pressure mounted further when Colin Munro, the Heat's captain was sent back to the pavilion by Tom Andrews. At 43/3 at the end of 8.2 overs, Brisbane Heat found themselves in a challenging situation, with the required run rate steadily increasing as the wickets fell.

Heat vs Thunder Highlights: Max Bryant's Blazing Knock Helps Renshaw Guide Heat To Win

After the early setbacks, Max Bryant and Matt Renshaw combined forces to turn the match in Heat's favour. Renshaw anchored the chase with a well-paced 48 off 33 balls, finding boundaries at crucial moments to keep the pressure off his team. However, it was Bryant's explosive 72 off just 35 balls that truly made the difference. With seven fours and four sixes, Bryant's powerful hitting took the game away from the Thunder.

After Bryant fell in the 17th over, Renshaw guided the team home with a 5-wicket win, booking their fourth win of the tournament against a formidable Thunder.
