LSG skipper Rishabh Pant is going through a disastrous IPL season and the downslide continued in the game against SRH at the Ekana Stadium. In the first half, he promoted himself at number 3 after a good start from their openers, but failed miserably. Now, as a captain, he has made another blunder by taking a wrong DRS during the third over.

Rishabh Pant's Authoritative Behaviour Goes Wrong

It was a review he took after fighting with the umpire. It was a shortish delivery, down the leg side, and Ishan Kishan tried to tuck it away. Ishan Kishan thought that it was a wide ball, but the umpire did not make any movement. 

So, he tried to take the DRS for it. Rishabh Pant, on the other hand, took the DRS for a caught behind around the same time. Thus, it created confusion, and Pant after intense discussion, convinced umpire to make his DRS official.

The replays though clearly showed that the ball has not hit the bat, and it was given wide, ending up in a waste of DRS by Rishabh Pant. Thus, LSG could have saved their DRS had Pant not fought for it, but he did, and that proved to be a big blunder. This is not the first time, Pant has made such mistakes, and his captaincy decisions have often come under scanner.

After the incident, Ishan Kishan made sure that he does not throw away his wicket and formed a good second-wicket stand with Abhishek Sharma in the run-chase of 206. This a must-win game for LSG, and thus their captain's wrong decisions of first promoting himself at 3, and then of wasting DRS might end their playoff hopes.
