The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been underwhelming for Sunrisers Hyderabad opener, Abhishek Sharma by his lofty standards. However, on Monday, he showcased his class and tore apart the Lucknow Super Giants bowling attack to play a stellar knock at the Ekana Stadium.
Abhishek joins Pooran in elite list
The aggressive left-handed batter smashed a 18-ball fifty against LSG and in the process he equalled Nicholas Pooran's record as he registered the joint-third fastest fifty of the IPL 2025 season. Romario Shepherd holds the record with a 14-ball fifty against CSK. Meanwhile, RR prodigy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi occupies the second spot.
The RR opener smacked a 17-ball fifty Vs GT in Jaipur and also blasted his maiden IPL century in that game.
Chasing a tricky 206, SRH needed a solid start from Abhishek, and they received it as the batter went hammer and tongs and took apart the LSG attack with ease. He blasted 6 sixes in his innings to achieved a stellar milestone.

Abhishek's innings didn't last long after breaching thr 50-run mark as he was dismissed for 59 off 20 deliveries by Digvesh Rathi. However, by the time he was out, SRH were in a strong position to eliminate the LSG side.
LSG in desperate need for a win
LSG have to win all their remaining matches to stay alive in the playoff race. Currently, they have played 11 matches with 5 wins and need to win every game and hope the other results go their way. If LSG lose this match, the Rishabh Pant led side will be eliminated.
