Bangladesh crushed the UAE to win the first T20I by 27 runs. Batting first, Parvez Hossain’s ton pushed the Tigers to a par total of 191 runs. In the chase, while Muhammad Zhoaib and Asif Khan showed intent, the rest of the batting lineup crumbled, leading to a 27-run defeat.

Parvez Hossain Emon Shines With Sublime Ton

Bangladesh batted first, but Tanzid Hasan lost his wicket to Matiullah Khan in the powerplay. Litton Das, the new skipper, appeared steady with 11 off 8 balls, but Jawadullah trapped him LBW, and the Tigers were 2 wickets down with just 49 runs on the board.

However, with the chips down, Parvez Hossain Emon rose to the occasion and slammed a 100 off just 54 balls. While no other batters scored more than 20 runs, Emon’s ton helped Bangladesh set up a 191-run total. 

For the UAE, Matiullah conceded 46 runs in 4 overs. Jawadullah, meanwhile, picked up 4 wickets and conceded just 21 runs. 

UAE Skipper Slams Fighting 50

In the chase, UAE captain Muhammad Zohaib slammed a fighting half-century. He hit 54 runs in 39 balls, with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Rahul Chopra, wicket-keeper, also contributed with 35 runs off 22 balls. At 11.2 overs, UAE had 103 runs on the board at the loss of 3 wickets.

After Zhoaib’s dismissal, UAE’s batting lineup collapsed like a pack of cards. Dhruv Parashar (3), Sanchit Sharma (4), and Muhammad Zuhaib (0) lost their wickets in quick succession. Asif Khan was the only one who showcased some fighting spirit. 

He slammed 42 runs off just 21 balls, including 3 fours and 4 sixes. However, due to a lack of support from the other end, the required run rate kept scaling high.

UAE couldn’t hit 34 runs off the last over and lost the game by 27 runs. Bangladesh, meanwhile, bowled brilliantly, Hasan Mahmud picked up 3 wickets, whereas Mustafizur Rahman got 2 wickets and conceded just 17 runs. Tanzim Sakib also got 2 wickets, while Mahedi Hasan and Tanvir Islam got a wicket each. 

With that win, Bangladesh went 1-0 in the 2-game T20I series.
