Bangladesh T20I skipper Litton Das has already started laying groundworks for his team as they prep themselves for next year’s 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. It is worth noting that the firebrand wicketkeeper-batter was recently appointed as national T20I captain following the resignation of Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Under the leadership of Litton Das, Bangladesh will resume their T20I quest with a short away series against the UAE in Sharjah. The series will be followed by another five-match assignment in Pakistan later this month.

Litton Das unveils Bangladesh’s new approach in T20Is

As quoted by the ICC, Litton Das talked about the importance of a collective team effort in winning T20I games. The 30-year-old also added that he wants Bangladesh to adjust themselves according to their targets while batting in the second innings. He said:

“I am not going to talk about a particular brand of cricket. We might need to chase 180-200 in some games, and 140-145 in other games. The ultimate goal is to win the game. A batter might need to score 40 off 20 balls in one game, and 15 off 20 in the next game. I want every player to be involved in the game.”

Litton Das claims that while he is aware what his teammates expect from him, he also wants every player to stick and perform according to their specific roles. He added:

“What the team needs from me is what the players must understand. It is more important for the player to know how to win a game, rather than stick to a brand of cricket. For the Bangladesh team to go ahead, the players have to perform. They have to play their specific roles. I have to communicate well with the players. The more time I get, the more I'll get involved in team matters.”

The Bangladesh team will face hosts UAE in a series of two T20Is at the Sharjah Cricket Ground on May 17 and May 19.

Next week, Bangladesh will travel to Pakistan for a five-match series between May 25 and June 3. Each of the seven fixtures will serve as a crucial testing ground for Bangladesh players before the 2026 T20 World Cup.
