Bangladesh’s young opener Parvez Hossain Emon slammed a stunning century in the 1st T20I against UAE. He brought up his century in just 53 balls and powered the Tigers to a 191-run total in the first inning.
After winning the toss, UAE opted to bowl first at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. While Bangladesh lost Tanzid Hasan early in the powerplay, Emon held his end to ensure swift recovery.
He knitted a 36-run partnership with Litton Das and then a 58-run partnership with Towhid Hridoy. Hossain Emon played some beautiful shots at a quick strike rate and reached a personal milestone.
Who Is Parvez Hossain Emon?
Against Matiullah Khan, Parvez Hossain Emon played a patient nudge through to the off side for single from a slower ball and lifted his bat in celebration as he achieved a wonderful 100 off 53 balls.
His century puts him only the second Bangladeshi batsman to make a century in T20Is, and he joins an exclusive club which reflects the growing depth of Bangladesh batting.
Born in 2002, Parvez Hossain Emon has been creating waves in both international and domestic cricket. He started his professional cricket career at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan, appearing in his T20 debut in February 2019 and his List A debut in March 2019.
His List A career is even more impressive, 2,421 runs at an average of 40.35 from 65 matches with 6 centuries and 15 fifties.
Emon’s talent quickly earned him a spot in Bangladesh's squad for the 2020 U19 Cricket World Cup. He made his T20I debut for Bangladesh against Zimbabwe on August 2, 2022.
Emon has represented various teams in domestic competitions, including Fortune Barishal, Comilla Victorians, Rangpur Riders, and Khulna Tigers.
