The ongoing Big Bash League has been underwhelming for the Pakistan star, Babar Azam as the Sydney Sixers opener failed to deliver the goods, yet again, and was dismissed cheaply in the crucial match against the Melbourne Stars. After registering a brilliant fifty in the last match, Babar was brought down to Earth by the Stars.

Ironically, out of the four innings he has played in the BBL so far, Babar has been dismissed for a low score for the third time, and this is a cause of worry for the Sixers who have invested heavily in the former Pakistan skipper.

Maxwell's sharp catch ends Babar's misery

Heading into the clash, the right-handed batter was oozing with confidence after a brilliant performance in the last T20 match, but he once again went back to his old self and played a sluggish knock as the batter was dismissed for a 7-ball 2 by Tom Curran. The incident occurred in the second over of the match as pressure mounted on the Pakistan batter to score runs quickly.

He had played four dot balls in a row, and on the fifth ball, the batter tried to break the shackles as he went after a fuller delivery pitched outside the off, and the outside-edge went straight into the hands of Glenn Maxwell at first slip. The Stars fielder extended both his hands towards the left and took a sharp catch as a disappointing Babar went back to the pavilion and Sydney Sixers were rocked early with yet another failure from their star opener.

Babar's horrendous BBL 2025 continues

In the first match against the Perth Scorchers, Babar was dismissed for a paltry 2, and it was followed by yet another disappointing performance (9) against the Strikers. He then scored a quick-fire fifty against the Sydney Thunder, but then it all came down to another failure in the clash vs the Stars.
