After a solid century on his Vijay Hazare Trophy comeback for Delhi, Virat Kohli registered another 50-plus score in the prestigious domestic tournament during Round 2 of the competition.

On December 26, Kohli scored 77 runs off 61 deliveries, laced with 13 boundaries and one six, to finish as Delhi’s top scorer in their total of 254 against Gujarat.

Virat Kohli displays remarkable consistency in VHT

The knock highlighted Virat Kohli’s remarkable consistency, as the India star has now recorded six consecutive 50-plus scores across domestic and international cricket.

This also marked a milestone moment, as he surpassed his own ODI record of five successive 50-plus scores. Although achieved in List A cricket, the innings effectively mirrors an ODI effort, taking Kohli’s tally of consecutive 50-plus scores to six.

How Virat Kohli anchored Delhi's ship against Gujarat

Virat Kohli displayed his trademark batting approach during the innings. He struck at 126.23, beginning cautiously before steadily accelerating to bring up his half-century off just 29 balls at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Alongside Kohli, Punjab Kings prodigy Priyansh Arya endured a disappointing outing, managing just one run, while skipper Rishabh Pant contributed a solid 70 to help Delhi post a competitive total.

Virat Kohli anchored the innings for a long period before being dismissed by Vishal Jayswal in the 22nd over, when he was stumped by wicketkeeper Urvil Patel.

Notably, this innings could also mark Kohli’s final appearance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy this season, as he has already fulfilled the BCCI’s mandate of playing two domestic matches. As a result, Kohli may not feature for Delhi in Round 3 on December 29.
