In the latest development, the DDCA has revealed the Delhi squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2025-26. The senior members of the selection committee met on Friday, December 19 to finalise the team, and they have announced Rishabh Pant as the captain of the side for the upcoming tournament.

The press release also conveys that Virat Kohli will be included in the Delhi squad, and alongside him, Ishant Sharma, Navdeep Saini, and Harshit Rana will join the squad. The squad announced is only for the first two matches of the competition as Delhi aim to bounce back after a disappointing Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament.

Ayush Badoni, the Lucknow Super Giants star has been appointed as Pant's deputy and he will be the vice-captain of the side.

The current Indian team management, handled by the head coach Gautam Gambhir, wants every member of the ODI squad to take part in the Vijay Hazare Trophy to be fit for the ODIs vs New Zealand next month. The Kiwis will tour India next month for a white-ball tour, and the team members have been told to play in the domestic competition.

Before the South Africa ODIs, Kohli was instructed to play in the domestic competition, and while the Indian batter silenced his critics with two centuries in the series, he had to accept Gambhir's instructions and the legendary batter will take part for at-least two Vijay Hazare tournament matches.
