AUS vs WI 2nd ODI | Playing 11 Prediction, Cricket Tips, Preview & Live Streaming

Australia aim to retain their dominance over the West Indies after winning the first ODI with ease in Melbourne on Friday (February 2). The defending world champions lock horns with their Calypso counterparts again on Sunday at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground with the three-match series on the line.

For the Caribbean men, it's a final opportunity to get back in the series after an unconvincing display saw them being completely outclassed by a slightly understrength Australian playing unit at the MCG. Shai Hope's men will have to showcase so much greater substance and fight in the middle.

AUS vs WI: Team Previews

Australia

Despite a win, Australia would recognise they had a mixed bag of a performance, in that while one debutant Xavier Bartlett (4/17) came up with the goods in the pace department, the other Lance Morris proved expensive for figures of 0/59.

It took allrounders Cameron Green (2/40) and Sean Abbott (2/42) to pull things back for the Australians to restrict the West Indies to 231 all out after the initial collapse.

Australia would've been happy with the way their rejigged batting unit shaped up. After the early departure of out-of-form Travis Head, wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis blasted the bowling for 65 off just 43 deliveries before Green continued his allround show and played a measured knock of 77.

He batted astutely in a partnership with stand-in captain Steve Smith, who would've been pleased with his run-a-ball 79 not out to take his team home.

West Indies

Struggling to paper over flaws in their One-Day batting, West Indies somehow reached over 230 on the back of a solid 88 from young Keacy Carty and Roston Chase's brilliant 59. The duo added 108 runs for the fifth wicket after Bartlett ran through the Caribbean top-order and reduced them to 4 for 59.

The Calypso Kings are required to show greater defensive technique against the new ball and try to force shift the bowlers' lengths by rotating strike rather than depending overtly on their boundary scoring options as has been the case for a long time with them.

The visitors require their best player Hope to come to the party and post a big hundred on the board, so that the rest can bat around him while the elegant right-hander guides them to a fighting score against the Aussies.

AUS vs WI: Sydney Pitch Report

One of the big misconceptions about the Sydney Cricket Ground is that it plays dry and offers spinners turn. The track instead plays flat for most parts during One-Day International matches, allowing batters to dictate terms all the way. Team batting first has the chance put a daunting score on the board and crush the opposition under the weight of the asking rate. The ground conditions will only make life tougher for the West Indies and their inexperienced attack.

AUS vs WI: Winner Prediction

Australia's commanding display reinforced the difference in class and skill between them and the inexperienced West Indies side. They start off as massive favourites to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
