England’s vice-captain Ollie Pope had his stumps shattered by Indian paceman Jasprit Bumrah at the brink of Tea break on Day 2. Pope, who tonked a match-winning 196 in the series-opener at Hyderabad, tallied just 23 runs in the first innings of the second Test match before he was done in Bumrah’s reverse-swing at Vizag.

England’s number three Ollie Pope made his way to the crease in the 11th over of the innings following the dismissal of opening batter Ben Duckett. The in-form cricketer shared 55 runs with Zak Crawley for the second wicket before the latter was deceived by Indian spinner Axar Patel.

Up against India’s 396-run first innings total, England lost a couple of more wickets within the next few overs, as they slumped from 114-1 to 136-4 at the stroke of Tea break.

Pope himself was castled by Jasprit Bumrah’s searing reverse-swing, shortly after the ace Indian speedster had accounted for the wicket of senior Englishman Joe Root.

Earlier in the day, Team India enveloped for 396 in their first innings. The hosts managed to add just 60 runs to their overnight total, with Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scoring in the innings through his maiden Test double ton.

English spinners Shoaib Bashir and Rehan Ahmed, as well as legendary fast bowler James Anderson collectively accounted for the four Indian wickets on offer at the start of the day.

The Indian bowlers - especially Bumrah - are breathing fire on Day 2 of the Vizag Test, with Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes looking to stablize the innings after the middle-order collapse prior to Tea. At the time of writing, the Englishmen are trailing by 241 runs with six wickets in hand.
