India’s 21-year-old batting sensation Nitish Kumar Reddy defied Australia’s raging attack with an exemplary 127-run partnership for the eighth wicket with all-rounder Washington Sundar. Nitish surpassed his previous best Test score of 42 to list his maiden half-century, and Sundar kept out 162 balls to score his 50 runs to bring up his fourth Test fifty.
Their partnership denied Australian bowlers off another wicket for more than 47 overs amidst Pat Cummins, Scott Boland and Nathan Lyon’s collective fury.

Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar employed a cautious approach in the final session of the day as the two cricketers resorted to defensive tactics, primarily against Nathan Lyon. The Australian spinner eventually got the better of a well-set Sundar with some sharp bounce late on Day 3.
Jasprit Bumrah at number 10 failed to hung around with a stranded Nitish Kumar Reddy as the Indian fast bowler was dismissed for a three-ball duck by Pat Cummins. Mohammed Siraj successfully fended off Cummins’ remaining three deliveries of the same over to allow Nitish to get to his maiden Test century. The rising Indian star did so by launching Scott Boland straight over the in-field for a sizzling boundary.
Siraj and the centurion survived the final moments under dark clouds before umpires called for an early stumps due to bad light. Team India finished the day at 358-9 from 116 overs and will find themselves another 116 runs away from Australia on Day 4.
