Nitish Kumar Reddy has made a huge mark in his debut Test series by scoring his first-ever Test century. This milestone came on Day 3 of the Boxing Day Test against Australia, played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. His brilliant knock helped India recover from a tough start and avoid a follow-on.
Reddy, a 21-year-old right-handed batter from Andhra Pradesh, came in to bat at No. 8. Despite the team’s early struggles, including the dismissals of key players like Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja, Reddy stood strong along with Washington Sundar.
His big moment came in the 115th over when he faced Scott Boland. Reddy hit a length ball on the off stump, driving it through the line and lofting it over mid-on for a stunning four. The crowd at the MCG erupted as he reached his century off 171 balls.
Nitish celebrated his ton in an emotional and unique way; he took off his helmet, placed it on his bat, knelt down, kissed the sky, and soaked in the applause from the fans. It was a special moment for the young cricketer.
