Harshit Rana, bowling his fifth straight over and the 23rd of the Australian PM innings, zipped past Jack Clayton’s defenses to curtail his 109-run partnership with Sam Konstas. A couple of deliveries later in the same over, Rana also knocked over Oliver Davies for a two-ball duck as the hosts crashed to 131-4.

Moreover, the Indian seamer added two more wickets to his tally in the form of Jack Edwards and Sam Harper a while later to seal astonishing figures of 4-44 from his six-over spell.

Chasing 241, Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul cautiously negotiated the new ball before unleashing their free-flowing strokes. Jaiswal himself whacked nine boundaries in his swift 75-run knock before a mistime off Charlie Anderson ended his 75-run opening stand with Rahul.

The senior Indian batter also retired himself at 27 from 44 balls, while captain Rohit Sharma failed to capitalize with the bat by nicking one towards slip off Anderson.

Shubman Gill at number three also enjoyed a prolific evening with the bat by punching out 50 runs from 62 balls before retiring himself out. The elegant right-hander listed seven boundaries in his fluent knock, and shared a steady partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Nitish himself cracked 42 quick runs in the middle order alongside unbeaten Washington Sundar (36* off 30) and Ravindra Jadeja (27 off 31) as the visiting Indians cruised to a five-wicket win in 44.4 overs.
