India's much-awaited warm-up match against Australia Prime Minister's XI kickstarted on Sunday morning after the first day was washed out due to a persistent downpour. Although a cloudy sky welcomed the players in Canberra, the proceedings got underway in time, with rain staying away from the contest.
Experienced Indian speedster Mohammed Siraj opened the bowling for the visitors ahead of ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The right-arm pacer challenged the Aussie openers with his razor-sharp bowling while also expressing his frustration over a sight-screen mishap.
After conceding a single off his first ball, Siraj bowled three consecutive dot balls to keep Matt Renshaw under the pump. However, as he was about to deliver his fifth ball, Renshaw pulled out of his stance, bringing an abrupt end to his run-up.
The southpaw was annoyed by a security person, who blocked the sight screen by moving in the stands. As Siraj noticed it, he expressed his frustration by saying,
"Ae bhai, garden me ghum raha hai kya? (Hey brother, are you wandering in a garden?)"
It's worth mentioning that a certain one-liner, involving the word garden, became very popular among the youth. Indian captain Rohit Sharma once addressed his juniors in a unique manner, making the statement viral on social media.
Siraj Draws First Blood For India
Mohammed Siraj's sensational opening spell ensured a great start for India in the warm-up game. The seamer got the prized scalp of Matt Renshaw, dismissing him for five runs. At the time of writing, PM-XI were 16 for one, with Jayden Goodwin and Sam Sam Konstas batting on 4* and 6*, respectively.
