In the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match between Mumbai and Andhra at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Ajinkya Rahane has hogged the internet after his scintillating stuff with the bat. Notably, the new KKR recruit has smashed his third fifty in the last four matches.

Rahane is having a season to remember, and it only got better once KKR roped him at the IPL 2025 mega auction for two crores. Since then, Rahane has played four games and smashed three fifties. In the ongoing match, Ajinkya missed out on his century by just five runs and  scored 95 (54), which includes nine fours and four sixes.

Rahane Enters Carnage Mode After IPL 2025 Auction

Rahane has scored 218 runs in five innings and averaged 54.50 in this tournament. Talking about the match, it is a high-scoring thriller as Andhra, batting first, put 229 runs on the board. Srikar Bharat played a valuable 93-run knock in front of a jam-packed crowd. In reply, Prithvi Shaw too silenced the critics with a quickfire 34 off 15.

Rahane Likely To Captain Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR too have completed their IPL 2025 squad, but are looking for a captain. Notably, Shreyas Iyer, who is currently leading Mumbai, left KKR for Punjab Kings. Thus, Rahane is touted to be the next man to lead the defending champions.

Notably, Rahane was earlier touted to lead Mumbai, but later the MCA went ahead with Shreyas Iyer as they deemed Iyer to be the right man to lead Mumbai in the shortest format of the game.
