Out of a total of 214 cricketers who have played a day-night Test match to date, 114 have bowled, while 93 have dismissed at least one batter. Unsurprisingly, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc and spinner Nathan Lyon, two cricketers who have played the highest number of pink-ball Test matches (12), are the highest wicket-takers in this format.
With Australia playing the maximum number of day-night Tests (12) thus far, five more than England (7), another thing which isn't surprising by any means is how a legendary Australian quartet is all over the bowling stats in day-night Tests.
The data presented in the above table signifies Australia's dominance in day-night Tests, while indicating that Mitchell Starc's numbers reach another level with a pink Kookaburra in hand.
While Starc's 66 wickets across 23 innings have come at a strike rate of 36.5, no other bowler has taken wickets this quickly (minimum 20 wickets). As a matter of fact, when this filter is applied, no other bowler strikes at less than 40. Lyon, second-highest wicket-taker behind Starc, is the only spinner to have dismissed more than 20 batters in day-night Tests.
Former England pacer James Anderson, who has picked 24 wickets across six pink-ball Tests, has the best average among bowlers with more than 20 wickets. Additionally, a miserly economy rate of 2.12 is the best among all bowlers with more than 10 pink-ball wickets.
