The third day of the one-off Test between Afghanistan and New Zealand has been called off early with match officials terming the ground unfit for any play with heavy shower greeting both teams early in the morning.

The drainage system at the Greater Noida Sports Complex has also turned out to be pretty poor, with not even toss possible in the game so far with three days lost. There was no rain on Day 2, but the outfield could not be dried because of overnight rain despite flurry of techniques used by groundstaff which has raised quite a few questions about the facilities at the ground.

Now, with just two days remaining, the match looks set for a draw, unless we see a special performance from one of the team. This is the first-ever Test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand, and after a strong performance in the T20 World Cup, all eyes were on Afghans and how they go about their business against a top side in the purest form of the game.

There is rain forecasted for the remaining two days of the Test match as well, and given the drainage system at the ground, any cricket in this match would be a bonus for players and fans.

ACB Rejected Kanpur, Bengaluru Options For NZ Test

Earlier, there were reports that Afghanistan Cricket Board were offered three choices of venue by BCCI. Bengaluru and Kanpur were the other two locations, however, ACB decided to go with Noida because it is closer to Delhi and better connectivity with Kabul, the captial of Afghanistan.
